Introducing a new social event by the team from
Float The Highlands
There will be no Race Event in 2025 due to work on the mountain bike trails and the resort. Instead, we’re going to host a few days of Social Rides in the Glencoe area where you’ll get to ride in the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer.
This is a free event, where we’ll publish start location, start time and some route details for each of the 4 days. We’ll have former Glencoe local James Pitcher (The Highlander) and others from the UK Float Events team to guide you.
You’ll be responsible for your own accommodation, food and transport each day. We’ll be there to guide you to some of the best spots around. This will cover all sorts of terrain and locations that you don’t get to see at the Race Event.
Please note that all riders participate at their own risk and are responsible for their own actions. Explore & enjoy safely - all activities should be engaged in only if the rider is comfortable, and prepared to ride! Keep to your own speed, don't worry about being in front or back, we're all a part of the same fløck!
Helmets, Wrist Guards & other protection is STRONGLY encouraged, however, since all activities take place in public, we cannot enforce any requirement - so we can only ask that you protect yourself in order to ensure that everyone remains safe and has a good time. PLEASE protect yourselves!!
How do I get there?
We will be based in the Glencoe and Ballachulish area of the Scottish Highlands. You’ll need transport (other than your Onewheel) once you’re here to get to and from the ride locations each day so we’d recommend you come by car. However, if you intend to share with someone who has their own transport then there are trains to Bridge of Orchy and Fort William which are close by. There is also a regular bus from Glasgow that will take you to the Mountain Resort and onwards through Glencoe and beyond. The nearest international airport is Glasgow, but there are also good links from Edinburgh.
Where can I stay?
There are multiple options for accommodation in the area and you’ll find some listed on our Accommodation Page on the main FTH Site. In addition, there is a campsite very close to where the organising team are staying at Signal Rock. If camping’s your thing and you want to be at the heart of the event, then checkout Red Squirrel Campsite.
Do I need my own Onewheel?
Yes, you need to bring your own Onewheel and charger. A hyper charger is recommended. The options for charging in the Highlands are limited , so on the days we do one long route with charge stops we want you powered up as quickly as possible, so another rider can use the socket. With longer routes, we will plan stops to charge. You will need to be able to ride at least 12 miles on a single charge - this will be a mix of terrain, including some chunky trails at times.
Do I need a ticket?
No, this event is completely free. As it is a social ride event, we want to get an idea of the number of riders taking part to help us with planning. If you’re going to join us, then we’d ask that you please fill in the form below.
